Babylon
On Friday I was lucky enough to stop by Babylon, a group show held at my favorite Oakland art venue, 4707 Telegraph. Their openings are always a fun and relaxed affair; the art is diverse, and they have the advantage of being friendly with Smokey’s Tangle next door, which adds to the conviviality.
One of the artists featured in the show was none other than Martha Gagnon, of Sundays with Martha fame! Martha is an amazing floral artist and also makes the most beautiful terrariums around (my husband has been known to look at my terrariums and say, “it’s nice, but it doesn’t look like Martha’s”). She is totally deserving of the highest regard.

Martha says:
“The terrarium itself is a repurposed antique light fixture. Plants inside are silver nerved fittonia, aluminum plant, baby tears, and moss. Hanging are handmade stone planters, tillandsia bulbosa, and fools gold.”
So wonderful. And still available for purchase! Martha also does custom design work. Visit Martha’s blog Small Worlds for more information.
